About the experience
Discover the world of olive oil with Black Gold Experiences’ Olive Oil Tasting experience, hosted by the Marchesi Cavalletti family at their charming holiday home in Monteleone Sabino, perched 500 feet above sea level. But this place isn’t just a holiday retreat; it’s a treasure trove of history and culture.
Once, it was an ex-convent, constructed in the year 1200, a testament to the turning tides as the Roman Empire gave way to new beginnings. In the 1700s, the Cavalletti family took over the ancient convent, alongside its sprawling lands and centuries-old olive groves. Their estate boasts an astonishing 7000 organic olive trees, some of which have stood proudly for 300-500 years, carrying with them the wisdom of the ages.
As you arrive, you will be welcomed by one of the two sons: Francesco OR Alessandro Cavalletti, who are both guardians of tradition and history. You will be taken on a fascinating tour of the ex-convent, unveiling the layers of history that have shaped the property over the centuries.
The highlight of this experience, is tasting the two award-winning olive oils, Trebula and Feronia, crafted with dedication and expertise that only generations of knowledge can provide. Each drop tells a story of the land, the climate, and the art of olive oil making.
Following the tasting, your senses will continue to be indulged as you savour an olive oil-inspired lunch. This delightful meal includes homemade bruschetta, velvety olive paté, fresh pasta, and local artisan cheese, thoughtfully paired with wines sourced from neighbouring vineyards.
